Subject: EMSOF Funding Fix
 
One of the recommendations in the 2018 SR 6 Report was to increase the fines that make up the Emergency Medical Services Operating Fund (EMSOF), something that had not been done since the fees were set in 1985.  Act 93 of 2020 -- which increased the fines for a moving violation and DUI Conviction -- was expected to raise $11 million.  Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, our EMS are now receiving LESS than what they did from EMSOF prior to Act 93 – due to less drivers being on the road. 
 
As such, I am planning to introduce a measure that would change the distribution of the proceeds of the EMSOF Fund -- to go back to how it was distributed prior to Act 93 for a period of one year.  Please join me in cosponsoring this important funding fix for our EMS.
