Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 19, 2021 10:22 AM
From: Senator Christine M. Tartaglione
To: All Senate members
Subject: Recognizing May 2021 as "Older Americans Month"

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution recognizing the month of May 2021 as Older Americans Month. This year’s theme is “Communities of Strength,” which celebrates the strength of older adults, with emphasis on the power of connection and engagement in building strong communities.

Our nation has made great strides to support older Americans as they transition into their new phase of life, and since 1963, we have honored their legacies and ongoing contributions. In Pennsylvania, during this monthly designation, we recognize the contributions made by older persons, and we pay tribute to their accomplishments within our communities.

There are many things older Americans can do to nurture themselves, reinforce their strengths, and continue to thrive. Connecting with others is one of the most important - it plays a vital role in health and well-being. From finding joy in small things and sharing stories, to looking at the big picture and giving to others, older Americans proudly promote the ways we are connected and strong.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution on behalf of older citizens in this Commonwealth.
