MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 19, 2021 03:13 PM
From: Senator Jake Corman and Sen. Kim L. Ward
To: All Senate members
Subject: Condolence Resolution for Senator Dave Arnold

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce our intent to introduce a condolence resolution honoring the life and work of our friend and colleague, Senator Dave Arnold.

Senator Arnold passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, peacefully at home, with his wife Alicia and daughter Reese by his side; following his 15 month-long battle with brain cancer. He was 49 years old.

Senator Arnold graduated from Cedar Crest High School, Kutztown University, and Widener University School of Law in May of 1996. He spent four years in private practice with Feeman, Mesics & Hopstetter, and was elected to serve Lebanon County as District Attorney in 2005.

During his 14 year term as Lebanon County District Attorney, he served as President of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association from 2016-2017. Elected to that position by fellow district attorneys, many have expressed his common-sense approach to issues, his relentless pursuit of justice, and his advocacy for victims of crime and safe communities.

On January 14, 2020, in a special election, he was elected to represent the 48th Senatorial District, which includes Lebanon, York and Dauphin counties. This election victory also happened to take place the same day as he “rang the bell” at the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, marking the end of his arduous chemotherapy treatment. He celebrated that evening with many family, friends and supporters.

As a life-long resident of Lebanon County, he brought with him a self-confident, positive energy; he was eager to promote numerous legislative priorities on behalf of his constituents which included ensuring the public’s safety, reforming our property tax system, and reducing government spending.

Most of all, Senator Arnold’s love and admiration for his family were always apparent; and he will be greatly missed.

Please join us in sending our condolences by co-sponsoring this resolution.
