MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 3, 2021 04:37 PM
From: Senator Kim L. Ward and Sen. Jake Corman
To: All Senate members
Subject: Condolence Resolution for Rep. Mike Reese

It is with heartfelt sadness that we will be offering a condolence resolution on Tuesday to honor the life and work of Representative Mike Reese of Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, who passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2021 at the age of 42.

Rep. Reese served the 59th legislative district in the state House of Representative since 2009.  He was selected by his Republican colleagues to serve as caucus secretary in the 2019-20 session and was recently elected to serve as caucus chairman in the 2020-21 session.

Mike represented the people of the 59th district in Westmoreland and Somerset counties well, championing a pro-jobs legislative agenda, working hard for charter and cyber-school transparency and accountability, and leading the charge to allow kids to safely play sports among COVID-19.  Mike undoubtedly carried with him the priorities and passions of his constituents whenever he traveled to Harrisburg.

More than an elected official and leader in the General Assembly, Mike was a devoted husband to his wife, Angela, and dad to his three young children, Addison, Claire and Michael Eric.  It is to them his loss will be the greatest and to whom we ask each of you to join us in sending our condolences through this resolution.
