Subject: | Streaming and Recording All Committee Meetings |
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce legislation which would require the recording of all committee meetings. As public servants, we have a duty to ensure that our constituents, who have elected us, have access for insight into how we are serving them. An important aspect to this is insight into meetings, during which we vote on legislation that impacts them directly. Transparency is a core tenant to a good and accountable government. It is my intention to guarantee that our constituents are given the ability to observe how their government operates. My legislation would require that all committee meetings and hearings be recorded and posted online. Additionally, when technically possible, my legislation would require these proceedings be livestreamed. This legislation was formerly Senate Bill 893 from the 2019-20 Legislation Session. The bill was co-sponsored by Senators Mastriano, Leach, Martin, Fontana, Phillips-Hill, and Muth. I sincerely hope that you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
