Subject: | Resolution Designating October 18, 2020, as "World Spine Day" in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution designating October 18, 2020, as “World Spine Day” in Pennsylvania. World Spine Day highlights the importance of spinal health and well-being, as well as the realities of spinal pain and disability, around the world. Back and spinal pain affects people of all ages and is the single greatest cause of disability globally. Over 800,000 adults in Pennsylvania suffer persistent or chronic back and spinal pain. A recent study found that about 1% of children, age 7, experience low back pain. That number jumps to 6% at age 10, and 18% at ages 14 to 16. Effective management and prevention are crucial, and this year’s World Spine Day will encourage people to take steps to be kind to their spines. The World Spine Day theme for 2020 is “Back on Track” and will encourage people to revitalize their spines and restore spinal health and well-being. Please join me in sponsoring this important resolution. |
