Subject: | Designating October 5, 2020 as Peroxisomal Disorder Awareness Day” in Pennsylvania |
In the near future, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing October 5, 2020 as Peroxisomal Disorder Awareness Day in Pennsylvania. Peroxisomal Disorders are rare, terminal, genetic conditions with no known cure that impact an estimated 1 in 50,000 live births annually. Thankfully, with genetic advancements and the current newborn screening law in Pennsylvania, families receive an early diagnosis allowing them to implement therapies for their children and find support. Every year, on October 5th, the Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders pauses to recognize and honor all of the families that have lost a child or are currently fighting a peroxisomal disorder. I hope you will join me in sponsoring this important resolution. |
