Subject: | Temporary suspension of foreclosures and evictions after the judicial emergency |
In the near future I plan on introducing legislation to temporarily halt evictions and foreclosures once the current judicial emergency relating to COVID-19 is lifted. On March 19, 2020, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued a statewide judicial emergency relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. In that order, the Court ordered all evictions and foreclosures temporarily suspended for the duration of the judicial emergency. The March 19, 2020 order is expected to end on April 30, 2020. Under my proposal, foreclosures and evictions would be temporarily suspended for 60 days once the current judicial emergency is lifted. Included in my proposal is both the temporary suspension of currently filed evictions and foreclosures as well as the suspension of the filing of new foreclosures and evictions. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation. |
