Subject: Designating October 5, 2019 as Peroxisomal Disorder Awareness Day in Pennsylvania
 

When the Senate returns to session, I will be introducing a resolution recognizing October 5, 2019 as Peroxisomal Disorder Awareness Day in Pennsylvania.

Peroxisomal Disorders are rare, terminal, genetic conditions with no known cure that impact an estimated 1 in 50,000 live births annually. Thankfully, with genetic advancements and the current newborn screening law in Pennsylvania, families receive an early diagnosis allowing them to implement therapies for their children and find support.

I hope you will join me in sponsoring this important resolution.
