Subject: Recognizing May 18-24, 2019 as "National Safe Boating Week" in Pennsylvania
 
In the near future, I plan on introducing a resolution recognizing the week of May 18-24, 2019 as "National Safe Boating Week" in Pennsylvania. This week will be set aside to provide boating groups with the opportunity to promote boating safety and the importance of wearing life jackets.

Commonwealth law requires anyone born after January 1, 1982, to obtain a boating safety certificate to operate a personal watercraft or powerboat with a motor greater than 25 horsepower. In addition, Coast Guard-approved life jackets are required while aboard a watercraft.

We are fortunate to have 85,000 miles of rivers and streams in Pennsylvania and safe boating practices are everyone's responsibility. Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
