Subject: | EMS For Children Day (May 22) |
In the near future, we will be introducing a resolution designating May 22, 2019, as "EMS for Children Day" in Pennsylvania. The resolution honors the tens of thousands of EMS providers and acute care professionals and the more than 25 professional organizations that are committed to improving the quality of emergency care children receive. Each year, more than 30 million children nationally receive emergency medical care due to illness or injury. The needs of children are different than the needs of adults in medical emergencies. The Emergency Medical Services for Children Program is aimed at helping communities prepare for a medical/traumatic emergency involving a child through the provision of properly trained emergency personnel, sufficiently equipped ambulances, pediatric-ready emergency departments, and well-defined pediatric treatment protocols and procedures. Please join us in recognizing EMS for Children Day in PA. Last year, SR 364 was sponsored by Senators Vulakovich, Aument, Baker, Blake, Boscola, Brewster, Brooks, Browne, Costa, Dinniman, Farnese, Folmer, Fontana, Greenleaf, Hughes, Killion, Langerholc, Martin, Mensch, Rafferty, Sabatina, Scavello, Scwhank, Tartaglione, White, and Yudichak. |
