Subject: Building Safety Month Resolution - May 2019
 
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing May 2019 as “Building Safety Month” in Pennsylvania.

Building Safety Month is sponsored by the International Code Council and the Pennsylvania Association of Building Code Officials along with all of the ICC Chapters in Pennsylvania, to remind citizens of the critical role of our local code officials, as well as to encourage appropriate steps Pennsylvanians can take to safeguard the places we live, work and play.

Building codes and a strong system of code enforcement can help ensure individuals and communities are safe. As we face disasters — from hurricanes and tornados to wildfires and earthquakes — building codes are important to the safety, health and wellbeing of families and communities.

Please join me in cosponsoring this resolution and acknowledging the critical role played by all those who work year-round to ensure the safe construction of buildings.
