Subject: Commemorating the 74th Anniversary of V-E Day
 
In the near future, I will join Senator Mike Regan in introducing a resolution commemorating the 74th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, known as “Victory in Europe Day,” or “V-E Day.”

On May 8, 1945, Western Europe, Great Britain, the United States and Canada proclaimed and observed “Victory in Europe Day,” after the formal, unconditional surrender of all German forces on May 7, taking effect on May 8th. After years of hard-fought war in Europe, spanning several countries and taking hundreds of thousands of young American lives, the defeat of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany was met with international celebration. This important milestone in world history deserves to be remembered and commemorated annually.
