Subject: | October 2018 as “Italian-American Heritage Month.” |
In observance of Columbus Day, we plan on introducing a resolution recognizing the month of October 2018, as “Italian-American Heritage Month” in Pennsylvania. An Italian, Christopher Columbus, embarked on what would end up being four trips across the Atlantic Ocean starting in 1492 where he accidently stumbled upon the Americans in his voyages. His journeys resulted in centuries of explorations on the continent and have contributed to the Italian immigration in Pennsylvania. As a result, Americans of Italian descent have become one of the Commonwealth’s most influential ethnic groups with the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania Sons and Daughters of Italy working hard for many decades to uphold the positive image of Italian heritage. Please join us in celebrating Italian-American Heritage Month. |
