Subject: | Loyalty Day in Pennsylvania - May 1st |
In the near future, we will introduce a resolution designating May 1, 2018, as "Loyalty Day in Pennsylvania." Loyalty Day is celebrated each May 1st to demonstrate our patriotism and recognize our freedoms. The first official Loyalty Day was marked in 1959 by President Eisenhower, however we have been observing this day since 1921 in response to the Communist celebration of "May Day." On Tuesday, May 1st, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) will hold its annual Loyalty Day Program at Soldier's Grove, located behind the State Capitol, at 10 a.m. Veterans from across the Commonwealth will be there to help reaffirm their pride and patriotism. Last year, SR 87 was cosponsored by Senators Vulakovich, Aument, Baker, Brewster, Brooks, Browne, Costa, Dinniman, Eichelberger, Folmer, Greenleaf, Hughes, Hutchinson, Rafferty, Reschenthaler, Sabatina, Tartaglione and Yudichak. Please join us in cosponsoring this resolution. If you have any questions, please call Nate Silcox (Senator Vulakovich) at 717-787-6538. |
