MEMORANDUM

Posted: July 3, 2017 12:58 PM
From: Senator John P. Blake
To: All Senate members
Subject: State Licensing Board Reforms

I will soon be introducing a proposal to provide additional recourse to victims whose cases would be heard before any of the state’s licensing boards. Specifically, the legislation would require a defendant or “respondent” appear in person for any hearing. Also, a victim or anyone adversely affected by the respondent’s actions or malfeasance; which prompted the case before the licensing board, commission or hearing examiner, would have the opportunity to provide a victim’s statement.

I believe this legislation would address a gap that currently exists in law as it relates to consumer protection and I would urge your support of this proposal.

Introduced as SB1226
