Subject: Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program - 75th Anniversary

In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution recognizing the 75th Anniversary of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program.

The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary to the U.S. Air Force and has three Congressionally-chartered missions: Aerospace Education, Emergency Services (Search & Rescue, Disaster Relief, Drug Interdiction and Homeland Security), and Cadet Programs. Today, the Pennsylvania Wing of the Civil Air Patrol consists of more than 1,900 volunteers in 51 squadrons and 6 groups.

Founded in December 1942, the Civil Air Patrol's Cadet Program is unique in that it uses aviation as a cornerstone. Youth, ages 12 through 21, progress at their own pace through a 16-step program including aerospace education, leadership training, physical fitness and moral leadership. Cadets compete for academic scholarships to further their studies in fields such as engineering, science, aircraft mechanics, aerospace medicine, and meteorology. Cadets who earn cadet officer status may enter the Air Force as an E3 (airman first class) rather than an E1 (airman basic). Tens of thousands of young Pennsylvanians have benefited from the education and experience gained through their achievements in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program and now serve this Commonwealth and our nation faithfully in all walks of life.

Please join us in sponsoring this resolution recognizing the achievements of the Civil Air Patrol's Cadet Program. If you have any questions, please contact Nate Silcox of Sen. Vulakovich's Office.
