Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2017 - 2018 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 6, 2017 05:20 PM
From: Senator Randy Vulakovich and Sen. Jay Costa
To: All Senate members
Subject: Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home Day - March 30th

In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution proclaiming March 30th as “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” in Pennsylvania.

March 29th marks the date that the last of our U.S. Troops departed Vietnam in 1973. March 30th marks the date that our troops landed home. There were more than 304,000 service members wounded in Vietnam, approximately 75,000 disabled, and of the 58,193 service members who lost their lives, 3,144 were from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Public debate and political crossfire, in many cases, led to the unfortunate mistreatment of many of our soldiers as they returned to the United States from Vietnam.

Last year, Senate Resolution 316 was sponsored by Senators Vulakovich, Costa, Argall, Aument, Baker, Brewster, Brooks, Dinniman, Farnese, Folmer, Fontana, Greenleaf, Hughes, Mensch, Rafferty, Sabatina, Teplitz, Ward, White, Wiley, Yaw, and Yudichak.

Please join us recognizing these American heroes. If you have any questions, please contact Nate Silcox of Senator Vulakovich's Office.
