Subject: | Female Veterans Day |
I will shortly introduce a resolution in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Commission on Women to recognize Wednesday, March 29 , 2017 as "Female Veterans Day" in Pennsylvania. There are more than 71,000 female veterans living in Pennsylvania today. While women have been fully integrated into our Armed Forces for fewer than 70 years, they have served unofficially, in disguise, and in auxiliary units with valor since the birth of our nation. Today, they risk their lives and well-being alongside all military personnel and serve in the highest ranks of all the services. I hope you will join in supporting this deserved recognition of our female veterans. Co-sponsors of a similar resolution I offered last year, SR 305, included Senators Sabatina, Dinniman, Browne, Hutchinson, Brewster, Rafferty, Greenleaf, Vulakovich, Costa, Fontana, Ward, Yudichak, Tartaglione and Hughes. , |
