Subject: | 2nd Class Township Amendments |
I plan to introduce legislation that will amend the 2nd Class Township Code with the following changes: 1) Change the completion date of the Annual Township Report And Financial Statement from March 1st to April 1st; 2) Change the publication date requirement of the Annual Township Report and Financial Statement from March 10th to April 15th; and 3) Allow the township, in lieu of publication of the entire Annual Report and Financial Statement in newspaper of general circulation, to post it on the Township's Internet Website. The first two changes are being proposed to allow townships that use certified public accountants to have additional time during the height of tax season to prepare required financial reports The third change will provide another option for making the required statement readily available to the public. The Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors supports all three changes |
