Subject: | Congenital Heart Defects Awareness Week Resolution |
In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing February 7 through 14, 2015, as “Congenital Heart Defects Awareness” Week in Pennsylvania. Congenital Heart Defects (CHDs) is the number one birth defect that affects approximately one in every 125 babies every year in the United States. Newborn screenings for CHDs involves a simple test called pulse oximetry. The use of this test could help identify CHDs before newborns show signs of the condition. Once identified, babies born with CHDs can receive treatment that can prevent death or disability. Thank you for your consideration. |
