MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 4, 2014 08:58 AM
From: Senator Michael J. Stack
To: All Senate members
Subject: Resolution - Casimir Pulaski Memorial Day

In the near future, I will introduce a resolution designating October 6, 2013 as “Pulaski Memorial Day” in Pennsylvania.

On Sunday, October 5, 2013, Philadelphia will host its 81st Anniversary Pulaski Day Parade. Pulaski Day is one of many celebrations during Polish American Heritage Month. During that time, General Casimir Pulaski is remembered for his skills and bravery during the Revolutionary War that earned him the title of “Father of American Calvary.

In 1777, Pulaski arrived in Philadelphia where he met General Washington, Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army. Later, at Brandywine, he came to the aid of Washington's forces and distinguished himself as a brilliant military tactician. For his efforts, Congress appointed him Brigadier-General in charge of Four Horse Brigades.
