Subject: | Lightweight construction warning signs |
In the near future I plan to introduce legislation that would serve to protect firefighters and first responders. It would do so by requiring commercial, industrial, and multi-unit residential structures using light-frame truss-type construction to mark the buildings with approved emblems/signs/placards. Light-frame truss-type construction is a type of building technique (and material) that uses primary structural elements formed by repetitive wood or light gauge steel framing members; these systems are used in roofs or floors, and sometimes both. While this type of construction is an affordable and safe structural system, it is prone to early collapse during a fire. Firefighters face enough challenges when combating structure fires; let’s give them an advantage that could save lives. |
