Subject: | Interference with Hunting/Fishing using Unmanned Aircraft |
In the near future, I plan to introduce two pieces of legislation that would prohibit the use of unmanned aircraft to interfere or disturb an individual who is lawfully engaged in hunting or fishing. Exemptions to the prohibition are provided in both bills for wildlife/waterways conservation officers, U.S. Fish & Wildlife officers, law enforcement, and military. This issue arises out of concerns raised by sportsmen in Massachusetts regarding the use of unmanned aircraft to collect video footage of individuals who were lawfully hunting or fishing. Last year, Illinois enacted legislation, similar to what I plan to introduce, to ensure that hunters and fisherman are not subject to harassment by the use of unmanned aircraft. If you have any additional questions on this legislation please contact my office. |
Introduced as SB1332
Description: | This bill would amend Title 34, the Game Code, to prohibit the use of unmanned aircraft to interfere or disturb an individual who is lawfully engaged in hunting. | |
