Subject: | SPC Tristan C. Smith Memorial Highway |
I am introducing legislation designating the section of Pennsylvania Route 232 in Bryn Athyn, Montgomery County, as the SPC Tristan C. Smith Memorial Highway. SPC Tristan C. Smith graduated from high school in 2002, studied at Bryn Athyn College for two years and joined the United States Army in July 2004. SPC Tristan C. Smith died in Taji, Iraq, on August 27, 2006, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his M2A3 Bradley Vehicle during a combat operation. The Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to traffic in both directions. Representative Thomas Murt has sponsored identical legislation (House Bill 1646) in the House of Representatives. |
