MEMORANDUM

Posted: September 16, 2013 02:17 PM
From: Senator Rob Teplitz
To: All Senate members
Subject: Human Services Block Grant Study

In the near future, I will introduce a resolution directing the Legislative Budget and Finance committee to conduct an evaluation of the Department of Public Welfare’s effect of the pilot program on provided services.

Despite the allocation of block grant funds to county governments to provide county-based human services, there are concerns of service reductions possibly due to recent budget cuts.

In order to ascertain the effect of the pilot program on the services provided in the participating counties, a comprehensive study of the impact, innovations, and effectiveness related to the cost associated with the block grant should be conducted.

This past June, an agreement was made to allow the expansion of 10 additional counties and concurrently, conduct a study on the county block grant program.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important resolution.
