Subject: Co-Sponsorship: Crime Victims’ Rights Week Resolution
 
In the near future, I intend to offer a resolution recognizing the week of April 21 through 27, 2013 as Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Pennsylvania.

Each year, 18.7 million Americans suffer the indignity of crime. For many of these individuals, the emotional, physical, psychological and financial harm from such crimes leaves a lasting scar, which serves as a constant reminder of the incident.

Over the past two decades, crime victims and their advocates have made unparalleled progress toward balancing the scales of justice in our criminal justice system. To draw attention to these victims, and to signify our understanding of and dedication to the continued advancement of this important cause, please join me in celebrating this important week within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
