Subject:	Memo #13 - Local Government Unit Roofing Projects

In the near future, I plan to reintroduce Senate Bill 1192 of last Session. This bill amends Title 62 (Procurement Code) by adding a new chapter on local government unit roofing projects. The chapter would provide specifications for roofing projects and an open and competitive bidding process so as to prevent corruption and/or favoritism. Furthermore, it prohibits a local government from procuring a roofing project or materials for the project through a cooperative-purchasing agency or agreement, a practice that has in many cases significantly increased the cost of materials. Previous co-sponsors were: Robbins, Waugh, Erickson, Farnese, Ferlo, and Washington.
