Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 22, 2013 01:39 PM
From: Senator Charles T. McIlhinney, Jr. and Sen. John P. Blake
To: All Senate members
Subject: Memo #13 Game Commission Officers Retirement Provisions

In the near future, we plan to reintroduce Senate Bill 1397, legislation ensuring Game Commission officers’ retirement provisions are equal to those of their law enforcement officer counterparts.

The bill would amend Title 71 (State Government) to include officers of the Pennsylvania Game Commission in the definition of “Enforcement Officers.” These bona fide members of law enforcement do not currently enjoy the same retirement provision – age 50 and 20 years – as do other enforcement officers. Meanwhile, Game Commission officers’ pension contributions are equal to that of their counterparts.

With this proposal being one of fairness and great importance to hundreds of Game Commission Officers, I urge sponsorship of this bill as Senator Blake and I work together to see its introduction, consideration and passage.

Introduced as SB730
