MEMORANDUM

Posted: August 8, 2022 01:50 PM
From: Representative Frank Burns
To: All House members
Subject: Historic Casino Licenses

Pennsylvania has a rich history and tradition of horse racing, which allowed for today’s gaming industry. However, the modern gaming industry is nonexistent in many counties across the Commonwealth. Because of this, many counties are forced to watch other cities prosper from the gaming industry, an industry that only exists due to historic horse racing.

That is why I plan to introduce legislation that would award discounted casino licenses for counties that can prove a rich history of horse racing. Counties that have not been able to reap the benefits of Pennsylvania’s casinos would be able to attract investment from the gaming industry while creating thousands of jobs, and the increased tax revenue from casinos could be put towards revitalizing our communities.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to bring greater investment to counties and communities across Pennsylvania.

Introduced as HB2850
