Subject: Sanction-Free Procurement
 
Soon I will be introducing legislation to ensure the Commonwealth does not contract or invest with businesses who do commerce with countries on the United States list of State Sponsors of Terrorism or the United States Economic Sanctions Programs List.  

Current State Sponsors of Terrorism 
Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria

Current Economic Sanctions Programs List
Afghanistan, Belarus, Central African Republic, China, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Nicaragua, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, and Zimbabwe.

This addition to the procurement code will ensure state taxpayers are not funding countries who are involved in terrorist activities and human rights violations.

I hope you will join me in this important legislation to protect taxpayers dollars.
