MEMORANDUM

Posted: March 1, 2022 11:14 AM
From: Representative Michael J. Puskaric
To: All House members
Subject: Resolution-Pennsylvania Hydrogen Hub

In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution urging the Biden Administration and the United States Congress to designate Pennsylvania as a hydrogen hub.

As part of the recently enacted federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, $8 billion dollars will be provided over five years for the establishment of four regional clean hydrogen hubs. Pennsylvania should be included in this tremendous opportunity to lead the way in a promising potential energy source of the future.

One of the requirements of the federal law is that if practicable, two of the hubs be located within leading natural gas producing regions. As Pennsylvania is the second leading producer of natural gas in the United States, we are perfectly situated to fulfill this requirement. Pennsylvania has been an energy leader throughout its history and being selected as a hydrogen hub will allow us to continue this important trend, help grow our energy economy, and bring a number of new jobs to our Commonwealth in an emerging field.

Please join me in cosponsoring this important legislation which will benefit our Commonwealth’s energy future.
