Subject: | Resolution-Social Media Platforms Censorship |
It is well known that the popular social media platforms censor the content that is placed on the platform. This censorship is not only in clear violation of the freedom of speech granted to all U.S. citizens by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, but also Article 1 of the Pennsylvania Constitution which protects the free communication of thoughts and opinions of every citizen. Despite these clear violations, Pennsylvania governmental agencies use official social media accounts to communicate with the public. This is why, I will soon be introducing a resolution urging all Commonwealth agencies to remove social media accounts from social network platforms that censor content and encourage them to switch to alternative platforms that respect the inalienable rights all Americans and Pennsylvanians have. Commonwealth agencies should not be utilizing social media platforms that infringe upon our freedoms and I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important resolution. |
