House of Representatives
Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 11, 2022 11:37 AM
From: Representative Dawn W. Keefer
To: All House members
Subject: No Taxpayer Funds for Association Dues

Currently, some associations require dues to be paid regularly in order to join and remain in said association. Numerous governmental bodies, at all levels, participate in these associations and therefore utilize taxpayer dollars to pay for their membership to that association. These associations are not Commonwealth entities and therefore should not effective be funded by taxpayer dollars. To remedy this, I will soon introduce legislation that will eliminate the ability for Commonwealth entities to use taxpayer funds to pay for association dues. Taxpayer dollars should only be used to run the Commonwealth entity and not for membership in a non-Commonwealth association.

I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
