Subject: Municipal Police Technology Fund
 
In the near future I intend to introduce legislation creating a Municipal Police Technology Fund within the State Treasury for the purpose of issuing technology grants to eligible police departments. Eligible departments are municipal or regional police departments that are authorized by townships, boroughs, or incorporated towns.
The grant funds are eligible for the purchase of the following:
  • Telecommunication devices and technologies
  • Body cameras
  • Associated hardware, software and devices necessary for the operation of the above.
This bill also institutes a $25 fee within municipalities that adopt a booting ordinance, which must be paid prior to the removal of the device and deposited into the Municipal Police Technology Fund.
