Subject: Health Care Coverage Contribution (Prior HB 1073)
 
As once again we are heading into a financially crunched budget, we feel it is important that we are willing to contribute our share towards the cost of our health care benefits.

Therefore, we are reintroducing House Bill 1073 from last session that would require Members to contribute 5% of the annual cost of their health care premium through monthly payroll deductions.  The plan calls for a 3% increase in deductions each term for the next 5 terms.  At the end of the 5th term, Members would be responsible for 20% of the cost of their health care premium.  If a Member's current contribution of 1% of salary is greater than their percentage of premium, the contribution would be at the higher rate.
