Subject: | Expansion of the Rail Freight Advisory Committee |
I am introducing legislation adding five new members to the Rail Freight Advisory Committee. Currently, the committee has 24 members including rail shipping representatives from areas of coal, steel, railway and intermodal, as well as a representative from the Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce. My legislation expands membership to include labor representatives from coal, steel, railway, intermodal, and a representative from the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO. The use of rail freight is important to both the companies involved and to the workforce employed. Both of these groups have a vested interest in the future of rail freight. As such, I believe that it is important to not only have industry voices on the Rail Freight Advisory Committee, but also include labor voices on that committee. Please join me in sponsoring this legislation which will provide a needed voice to the labor community when issues of rail freight are at stake. |
