Subject: | PPE for Child Welfare Workers |
The COVID-19 global pandemic continues to create unprecedented challenges for our health and human services systems to help our most vulnerable families. Face-to-face interactions are also a critical component to many of the services offered to families, especially for children and youth. Unfortunately, the current public health crisis has restricted face-to-face interactions to prevent the spread of the virus and protect the defenseless. As we move steadily towards a return to normalcy, we cannot forget that child welfare workers and service providers are still in need of personal protective equipment (PPE). Their inability to secure adequate PPE continues to prevent face-to-face interactions with vulnerable families and the children who are most in need of personal connections. For this reason, I plan to introduce legislation to give county agencies and service providers additional funding to meet their PPE needs. We must continue to put the most vulnerable among us first and work together to give essential services the equipment they need. Please join me in supporting this important piece of legislation. |
