Subject: Legislation to Increase the Maximum Fines for Littering
 
Litter and debris on roads and highways are a detriment to the health and safety of drivers. Trash of any kind can be distracting and dangerous to drivers. It can cause drivers to swerve and hit larger objects or, worse yet, get into serious accidents that can needlessly take the lives of innocent Pennsylvanians. In addition, it costs our Commonwealth about $13 million each year to clean up roadside litter.

To address these concerns, I will be introducing legislation that would increase the maximum fines for littering. Under this measure, at least five percent of revenue collected would be used for signs along Pennsylvania roadways notifying drivers of fines for littering.

It is our duty as public servants to secure the health and safety of our constituents. Please join me in supporting legislation that works to accomplish both.
