MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 4, 2021 01:11 PM
From: Representative Mike Zabel
To: All House members
Subject: Disguised Firearm Ban

A major issue of growing concern in our country as well as our state is the issue of disguised firearms.  The most common type of disguised firearm is the pen gun, a term applied to a weapon which is disguised to look like a pen or to any single-shot firing device of tubular appearance.  Other popular disguised weapons include the cigarette lighter gun, knife gun, cane gun, and umbrella gun, all of which meet the definition of “any other weapon” under the National Firearms Act.

These types of weapons are dangerous, and can threaten the lives of citizens and law enforcement officers as they are easy to conceal, thus leaving others vulnerable to attack.  That is why I plan to introduce legislation that would ban disguised firearms in Pennsylvania.

Our constituents deserve a safe place to call home and raise their families.  As stewards of public safety, it is my hope that you will join me in this collective effort to protect our children and all Pennsylvanians.  Your consideration is greatly appreciated.

Introduced as HB917
