Subject:	False Reports to Law Enforcement Package

A White woman threatening to call the police on a Black man in New York after he asked her to put her dog on a leash. A video showing the police being called on a Black family trying to barbeque with a charcoal grill in California. Even in Pennsylvania, a group of Black golfers were told that they were “golfing too slowly,” leading to law enforcement being called. Within the last year, a revolution against racism, police brutality, and inequality has gripped the nation. Now, more than ever, we have a duty to protect and serve our constituents and their loved ones. Reinforcing current law and holding employers accountable for employees’ conduct is necessary to move us forward on the path to equality.  Document 1 – Our first bill aims to protect all Pennsylvanians from ethnic intimidation by increasing penalties for individuals who file a false police report with malicious intent towards another person’s race, color, national origin, or religion.  Document 2 – Our second bill will encourage businesses to take proactive steps to discourage employees from filing ethnically motivated false police reports by holding employers civilly liable for damages resulting from employees’ violations of an individual’s civil rights.  As elected officials, it is our duty to ensure that we continue to work towards the safety and security of all Pennsylvanians. Please join us in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
