House of Representatives
Session of 2021 - 2022 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 25, 2021 11:24 AM
From: Representative Anthony M. DeLuca
To: All House members
Subject: Protecting Pennsylvania's Wildlife

During the last session a viral video showed two Pennsylvania teens kicking a wounded deer in the face, stepping on its legs, and ripping at its antlers. This heinous behavior led to widespread public outcry, and eventually charges were filed against the two individuals. However, there is currently no statute authorizing the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) to revoke or deny the hunting licenses of individuals who torture wildlife in this way.

To remedy this, I will be introducing legislation granting the PGC the ability to revoke or deny a license to anyone who hunts in this heinous way. My legislation will also give PGC the ability to revoke or deny a license to anyone convicted of animal cruelty. This will provide additional protections to Pennsylvania’s wildlife, while also preserving the traditions of ethical sportsmen across the Commonwealth.

I hope that you will join me in sponsoring this important legislation.

Introduced as HB670
