Subject: | Recognizing the Impact of Childhood Emotional Abuse |
Too often, children are subject to isolation, terror, and rejection in the privacy of their own homes. Difficult to detect, emotional abuse can persist for years and adversely impact a victim’s lifelong psychological and physical health. As such, I will be introducing legislation that acknowledges the warning signs, scope, and lasting effects of childhood emotional abuse. Considered to be one of the most damaging forms of maltreatment, childhood emotional abuse also bears enormous personal and societal costs. It is my hope that by increasing awareness, we will all become more adept at recognizing this devastating form of abuse and more capable of addressing it as soon as possible. Please join me in supporting this resolution and a healthier, safer, and brighter future for all of Pennsylvania’s children. Thank you for your consideration. |
