Subject: Expanding Flexibility of Off-Premises Catering Permits for Restaurants

The COVID 19 pandemic has crippled our restaurant and bar industry.  The need to social distance and limit occupancy indoors has resulted in devastating losses to these community businesses.  Now more than ever they need a break and the opportunity to have more flexibility in the way they run their business.

To do this, we are re-introducing legislation (formerly HB 2774) that will eliminate the $500 off premise catering permit fee, remove the March deadline to apply, and do away with the current five-hour cap on events, as well as the limit of 52 events per year during the ongoing COVID-19 Emergency Declaration.

By giving our restaurant industry more flexibility regarding off-premises catering permits, we will be giving them a fighting chance to make it through this extremely difficult time.  Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to support our struggling restaurant industry.

Introduced as HB344
