Subject: | Extending Whistleblower Protection to All Judicial Branch Employees |
Providing protections to employees who would call out waste, fraud, and abuse is vital to providing checks and balances in our government. As you may know, the scope of protections in the Commonwealth’s Whistleblower Law (Act 196 of 1986) was expanded in 2014. However, it remains vague as to whether or not Judiciary Branch employees are truly covered. I believe we should comprehensively include all of the Commonwealth’s judicial system as a public body under the Whistleblower Law. For this reason, I plan on introducing legislation that amends the Whistleblower Law to clearly indicate that the following pubic bodies are covered under the law: Supreme, Superior, and Commonwealth Courts, court of common pleas, minor judiciary, or other bodies in the judicial branch of State government. Now is the time to protect employees who are looking out for the greater good in our state. I hope that you will join with me and show your support for all whistleblowers by co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
