Subject: Providing Homeowners Relief from Intense Solicitations to Sell Their Homes

Most of us have received a flyer in the mail from a realtor asking to consider selling your home. Depending on where you live, you may get these once a week. Unfortunately, we have neighborhoods in our state where families constantly receive flyers, plus phone calls and people knocking on their door.  The relentless barrage could border on harassment.

In order to help provide some relief for these Pennsylvania families, I will be introducing legislation that will create zones to prohibit this solicitation.  Under the bill, a homeowner can request to be placed on a “Homeowner Cease and Desist List,” similar to the “Do Not Call List” for telemarketers. The “Homeowner Cease and Desist List” will only prohibit real estate agents and individuals in the business of buying and selling properties from contacting the homeowner. These zones do not prohibit a homeowner from selling their home or contacting a real estate agent. It only stops the contact by real estate agents and others trying to get a family to sell their home.

Please join me to stop the constant onslaught of solicitation Pennsylvania families receive because of where they live.  We need to provide some relief and a chance for them to enjoy their home.
