Subject: | Absentee and Mail-In Ballot Deadlines |
The 2020 election had extremely high turnout, and with the pandemic still affecting our state, voting by mail was of particular interest to voters. Yet for a variety of reasons, there was confusion and uncertainty about when these ballots must be submitted in order to be officially counted. To that end, I will be introducing legislation which will simply clarify that in order for ballots sent by mail to be counted, they must be postmarked on or before Election Day and must be received by the third day after Election Day. In light of the surge in requests for voting by mail during both the primary and general elections, I feel this is an important and timely clarification to current law. Please support this common sense fix to ensure all votes are counted. |
