| Subject: | Veterans Week of Service in the Commonwealth |
| After years of service to our Country, veterans from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces continue to lead and serve outside the Military. Veterans nationwide have formed nonprofits organizations with the sole mission of providing comprehensive life-sustaining services to homeless and other at-risk veterans. These services include affordable housing; education services; and, counseling, job placement and employment assistance. From the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania to the Greater Philadelphia Veterans Network, veterans in Pennsylvania and nationwide have implemented programs to help other veterans who face difficulty transitioning from military to civilian life. Accordingly, our resolution would recognize the work of these veterans who continue to lead and serve by forming nonprofit veterans’ organizations in this Commonwealth, with the primary mission of improving the lives of their peers.
