Subject:	International Overdose Awareness Day

In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution to designate August 31, 2020 as “International Overdose Awareness Day” in the Commonwealth. We are all aware of the staggering numbers of overdose deaths in Pennsylvania. This resolution acknowledges substance use disorder and opioid use disorder as a tragic medical disease.  In 2018, 4, 491 PA residents lost their lives due to drug overdoses. We grieve with their families and remember those lives lost to this horrific epidemic and in honor of their lives, we have requested the flags over the Capitol be lowered to half staff on August 31, 2020. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this resolution.
