| Subject: | COVID-19: Supporting Child Care and Pre-School Providers |
| In order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, child care and pre-school providers all across the state have faced restrictions and have even been required to close. While this step was necessary to stop the spread of the virus and save innocent lives, it has inflicted great hardship on our hard-working child care and pre-school providers. For example, a recent survey revealed that nearly one-third of the 605 child care providers, who serve over 44,000 children in the Commonwealth, would not be able to reopen if they are closed for more than a month. For this reason, I will be introducing two companion bills to legislation that will be introduced by Sen. Schwank and Sen. Williams to support our child care and pre-school providers. Please join me in supporting the well-being of our children and families as well as the outstanding workers and programs that serve them. |
